Rotarian of the Year
At the culmination of the Rotary year in June, the Rotary Club of Livermore Valley recognizes an outstanding member who has gone above and beyond in contributing time and effort to the success of our club during the past year. Celebrating the Rotarian of the Year also celebrates the tradition of service begun by our first club president, Bill Webster. This award honors and remembers Bill, while honoring a current member of our club. Occasionally, the award is presented to two deserving members.
We began this tradition in 1994. The Bill Webster Award is the highest honor given to a club member.
2021 Rotarian of the Year - Sherri Simoni
Sherri joined the Rotary Club of Livermore Valley in 2019 and immediately got involved. When she agreed to come to her first meeting as Bill Steven's guest, Sherri thought Rotary was a networking group. She quickly realized it was so much more. She was impressed by our club’s commitment to community service and welcomed the opportunity to participate in our many activities.
Sherri was just a Red Badger when she saw that others were beginning to step away from leading some of the annual activities that raised money for community service. Sherri stepped up to keep those traditions alive. Football Follies, the Annual Turkey Giveaway, Student of the Month, and the 10-Spot were not only kept alive by Sherri, but grew in their popularity and reach. During Covid, Sherri revived the 50/50 Raffle to add some fun to our Zoom meetings. She created the successful "Crab Dash" to add fun and funds to our club. She began planning the First Annual Chili Cookoff that would become our club’s primary fundraiser. Everything Sherri did was to support our community and our members.
Sherri is humbled by this award. “Receiving the Bill Webster Award is such an honor, especially in this club that has so many people who have given so much over the years, and continue to give to our community and to each other. I am humbled that my peers recognize my hard work. The relationships I’ve forged I know I will have forever. I have gotten back so much more than I have ever put in,” she said.
Sherri’s enthusiasm and energy invigorates all of us! Our club is better because of her.
