Our club is proud to support the international Wheelchair Foundation during our 2021-22 club year!

On Tuesday, November 2, our International Chair, Leslie Lemieux, presented District 5170 Governor, Richard Flanders, with a check for $6,150 from our club to donate directly to the Wheelchair Foundation!

We are happy to donate funding to purchase 41 wheelchairs for individuals in Mexico or Serbia who lack mobility. We more than doubled our goal of purchasing 20 wheelchairs!

Our International Chair, Leslie Lemieux, reminds us that there are many individuals throughout the word who are unable to use their legs to walk. They may need to crawl on the ground or be carried by a family member or friend in order to get around. Imagine how difficult life becomes without mobility and without having the aid of a wheelchair. Unfortunately, this situation exists too often for disabled individuals in under-privileged areas.

Anyone can still make a donation by visiting the Rotary District 5170 Wheelchair Foundation Donation Portal. If you prefer, checks can be mailed to: The Wheelchair Foundation, 3820 Blackhawk Road, Danville, CA 94506.

What an opportunity we have to give someone the gift of mobility and freedom! A tax-deductible donation of $150 provides one wheelchair to someone in need.
