The Weekly Meeting Summary of the Rotary Club of Livermore Valley
February 13, 2024
OPENING THE MEETING
President Sherri Simoni called the meeting to order at 8:17 am.
Suzanne Richerson led us in the Pledge of Allegiance
Not widely known fact about Suzanne is that she won a beer chugging contest in college!
Song of the Day - Ward Eccles had us all sing along to "My Country Tis of Thee"
Thought of the Day - Wolfgang Stoeffl shared:
Good Morning Rotary
Here is my Thought of the Day..., brought to you by your vagabond member Wolfgang from the city of Montevideo in Uruguay.
As you know, I am often absent from our Rotary Club of the Livermore Valley,
and I am very grateful for the good
life the town of Livermore gave me for the last 45 years.
My
thought of the day is Gratitude to all the good people which
make our life so easy and joyful.
We can buy food when we want
it,
someone in town sweeps the streets,
the sewer works,
we have clean drinking water,
the gas stations have fuel,
our house has heat,
There is a handyman to fix a leaky pipe,
We have TV,
Internet and everything works most of the time.
We can enjoy
the beauty of nature.
And we can travel the world safely.
And someone in the world makes enough good toilet paper...
Let us be
grateful for it all
and show Gratitude to all the folks which
make it happen...
Joke of the Day - Mark Hudson shared a joke about a husband who couldn't remember any single detail about his wife but when asked about her car, knew every single spec - You had to be there, lol.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Paul Harris Recipient - Richard Goldstein

The goal of the organization is to provide marketing for the Tri-Valley including Livermore, Pleasanton, Dublin and Danville and to inspire commercial and leisure travel to this area. 41 hotels are included in their reach providing 4450 rooms. Funding is mostly provided by the $3.25 per hotel night stay.
A large travel component is kid's sporting events. A recent Gaelic Games brought in $2M to the area!
Beer trails, wine trails and ice cream trails are part of their marketing campaign. Besides marketing the organization also likes to give back to the communities by implementing programs such as coat drives, Souper Tuesday and entry jobs for new job seekers.
The Vibe is a service that sends out weekly emails to those that sign up letting them know what's happening in the Tri-Valley in the areas that they are interested in. https://events.vibetrivalley.com/
NEXT WEEK'S SPEAKER
Next week we are excited to welcome Katie Marcel, Executive Director of Innovation Tri-Valley, who will share information about the 2040 Plan.
Beth McCormick is proposing George Duarte as a new member of our club, in the Classification of Mortgage Broker.
All paperwork has been submitted, and at the February board meeting, our board voted unanimously to approve the proposal. Per our Bylaws, this information was published this week and will hereby also published today in The Grapevine. If any club member has a question about the proposal, please contact Membership Chair Jeannette Albiez. If no objections are received by January 23, we will move forward with installing Mony as our newest member.
