Football Follies Update
  • It's really a close race this year. The lead is a 3-way tie with Dick Fields, Jill Duerig and Tom Marcel. Several picked 11 correctly in week 6 -  that's phenomenal!

World Series Pool is Back!
Let Lori know if you want to join in.  It's $20 per square, and the pool pays out $1000 over the entire series.  The less games played the larger the payout.  The proceeds of this fun-raiser goes to our Thanksgiving Dinner project.

Today's Program: Larry Lagin, President of East Bay Holocaust Education Center and Lead for the Violins of Hope: Strings of the Holocaust Project
Larry retired from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory after a long and distinguished career.  He led a project on behalf of the East Bay Holocaust Education (EBHEC) Organization of Pleasanton to bring the history and stories of these fabulous instruments to life for our community.  Through his efforts, the project team raised all of the funds needed to host concerts, lectures, plays, and films to educate the region about the long journey of these instruments, and more importantly to retell the stories about their original owners.  His efforts touched 47 schools impacting 13,700 students and faculty in the bay area.  The concerts at the Bankhead reached 1400 people.  There were concerts outside of the East Bay as well.  It's fair to say that the project's scope was thousands.
The EBHEC is a comprehensive Holocaust educational resource center for people of all faiths within the San Francisco East Bay.  The Violins of Hope have traveled the world and have been featured in concerts in Paris, Chicago, New Orleans, New York, and Livermore!
