    • Little known fact about Philomena is that she is a UC Alameda County Master Gardener

  • Thought of the Day - Jeanette for Bob Tucknott, Maya Angelou, People will forget…but remember how you made them feel.

  • Joke of the Day Jerry Hawkins via Roy. Prayer: Grant me the coffee…Good one!

  • Visiting Rotarian: Bob Tucknott introduced by Ward, and he's visiting from the Dublin Club with a classification of Electrical Contractor.

Suzanne introduced Granada High School Principal Clark Conover and our student of the month Carly Thinfen.  Carly's parents were in attendance too

Carly Thinfen is an amazing and dedicated student.  In academics she has earned a 4.51GPA, and a score of 1540 on the SAT!  (1600 is top score)


She studies AP US history, computer science, and calculus. She is an AP scholar with honors. Carly is in the National Honors Society, and was awarded First place in Cyber Olympics for her analytical skills.


Carly likes learning opportunities and has participated in Exploration & Learning at Columbia which included machine learning and applying AI to real estate investment.  She also participated in Digital Design at Harvard with cutting age technology in a virtual environment.


She has a passion for dance and has studied at Juliard Art Dance Intensive, and was awarded Sr. Female Best Dancer.


Perhaps she's going to Yale!

  • Granada High School Career Fair - February 28, please contact Rich Goldstein if you would like to help.  He needs volunteers to participate on the day of, as well as recruit businesses who might want to meet the GHS students.
  • Noon Club Crab Feed - March 9, 2024.  Roy is organizing our club's attendance at the Noon Club's annual crab feed. Tickets are $80. Roy has tentatively reserved 4 tables of 8. Please email Roy Porfido if you would like to join in the fun with our fellow Rotarians.
  • RFL Community Grant Applications Due February 1 

    • Please contact Philomena know if you would like to be on the Grant Committee or would like to serve as a grant sponsor

Membership growth, goal was a net 3.  Current membership list got cleaned up we reduced by 7!  Need a membership committee.  Have streamlined Red to Blue Badge process. 42 is the current membership.  Would like more member talks.  The district is working on ways to enhance the opportunity for members to discuss their business.





Next week we will welcome Las Positas College President Dyrell Foster, Ed.D. to provide us with an update on the accomplishments and impact of Las Positas College.
We will continue to meet in the Horticulture Classroom, Building 3300.

Beth McCormick is proposing Mony Nop as a new member of our club, in the Classification of Business Owner/Realtor.
All paperwork has been submitted, and at the January board meeting, our board voted unanimously to approve the proposal. Per our Bylaws, this information was published last week and is hereby also published today in The Grapevine. If any club member has a question about the proposal, please contact Membership Chair Jeannette Albiez. If no objections are received by January 23, we will move forward with installing Mony as our newest member.
