Today's Program: Kevin Adler
Our Honorary Club Member Kevin Adler talked about his Work with the Unhoused
Kevin is an award-winning social entrepreneur and the author of the new book, When We walk By, a must-read guide for ending homelessness in America.

Kevin is the Founder and CEO of Miracle Messages, a nonprofit that helps people experiencing homelessness rebuild their social support systems and financial security through family reunification. Since Kevin was raised in Springtown, Deb Tacker has known him since he was five years old. We are all proud of all the work Kevin has done!
For 10 years, Kevin has worked with individuals experiencing homelessness, talking with them, and learning from them. He built Miracle Messages from a conversation with an individual named Jeffrey who recorded a video message to family members he had not seen in almost 20 years. Within a day after Kevin shared that message through social media, Jeffrey's sister reached out. Jeffrey was reunited with his family several months later.
Kevin and the team at Miracle Messages have reunified over 800 individuals with family members and/or friends with whom they had lost touch. Kevin shared that even with the hardships of financial poverty, many only feel truly homeless when they lack connections - relationships with family and friends. Relational poverty is something we can help with, by reaching out to individuals we see living on the street.
Kevin gave each of us socks, donated by Bombas, and encouraged us to give them to an individual we see. We can introduce ourselves, ask how their day is going, or simply offer them the socks.
We are invited to support Miracle Messages by being part of Miracle Friends. 30 minutes a week of conversation through text and/or phone with an unhoused individual can help build a connection, and ease the relational poverty felt by so many individuals experiencing homelessness. If you are interested in learning more about being a "phone buddy," please reach out to Kevin:
Kevin shared one of his guiding principles:
Our unhoused neighbors
are not problems to be solved,
but people to be loved.
