Opening the Meeting
  • President-Elect Beth McCormick called the meeting to order at 8:15.  She's substituting for Sherri who is in Gold Beach, Oregon.

  • Jeanette Albiez led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.

  • Bennie Le Bourvellec chose the Song of the Day after being inspired by the Tina Turner Musical.  Simply the Best!

  • Philomena Rambo shared Trey Micheletti’s thought: Congratulate your daily matter how small, they deserve to be celebrated.
  • Ed Schumann provided us with several Dad jokes Ha Ha Ha.  They were rated PG.

  • Fleet Week Air Show & Bay Cruise Club Social - Sunday, October 8
  • Pie Sale Now through September 15th
    • We are all invited to support the women of Semper Fidelis as they raise money for their charitable work by selling pies. Each year, Charles & Patty Crohare give us this delicious opportunity. Pies are 10" in diameter, arrive frozen (and can keep for up to a year), and are available in a variety of flavors for $20 each.

    • Sign up at the next meeting or email Charles to let him know you'd like a pie.

  • Lithium-Ion Recycling Event  - September 24
    • Please use this form to volunteer to help out at the Lithium-Ion battery and device recycling event on Sunday, September 24 from 11 am - 5 pm at Tri-Valley Car Care in Livermore:

  • Football Follies is Back!
    • The 2023/2024 NFL Season starts on Thursday!  A big thanks to everyone who has signed up as we have already raised $1300 for Thanksgiving dinners.  If you haven't yet signed up and wish to, please contact Lori and Bill ASAP.  Good luck to all.               
Today's Program: New Member Talks
Marty Roberts


Marty Roberts is originally from Memphis, TN.  He’s a level 2 Sommelier and worked as a tour guide at Wente. He moved to CA when he was 20 years old with just a few dollars in his pocket. He’s married to his college sweetheart and enjoys cooking.


He shared a great story about how he acquired his Food Truck. He bought/leased Eduardo Posada’s food truck, now called Marty’s Joint Food Truck. Marty turned his love for food into an occupation.


Marty feels a part of our community and really likes cooking for everyone. He resides at the Sunflower House on O Street. He’s still exploring his role in the club. Welcome Marty!  So glad to have you in the club.



Jeannette Albiez
Jeanette Albiez, was born in Switzerland. She went to school in Munich before moving to the US. settling in Pennsylvania. She went to college in Florida, and loved watching the shuttle launches. She majored in Ocean Engineering and started her career at Naval Underwater Systems Center. Jeanette married Mark, and has 2 children who have become very active in outdoor endeavors. Her daughter Shelby is recently engaged and her son Alec is currently bikepacking in Ecuador! Her hobbies include Pickleball and Tennis along with cycling, hiking, and reading.  She joined Rotary as a way to give back. So glad to have you join our club, welcome.
