José Ortiz captured his first Kentucky Derby win after years of trying. His. horse started out last. He beat his brother, Irad Ortiz Jr., who rode runner-up Renegade.
New Member Talk: Robert Freeman
Robert began his speech by sharing that he became homeless at 16, following his parents' divorce while he was in high school. He spent nights outdoors until his Chemistry teacher offered him shelter. After graduating, he joined the Merchant Marines for six years and trained as a machinist. Following his service, he attended Santa Clara University, where he excelled, eventually going on to Stanford University to obtain an M.B.A. He later rose to the position of vice president of international marketing at Sybase. After nearly two decades in the computer industry, Robert decided to leave his six-figure salary to become a teacher at Los Altos High School. In 2007, he inspired his students to donate $1 each to fund the construction of a classroom in Africa, which ultimately resulted in the establishment of 683 schools across some of the world's poorest nations.
Robert Freeman is the Founder and Executive Director of The Global Uplift Project. https://tgup.org/
WELCOME ROBERT!
TODAY'S PROGRAM:
Annie has dedicated her career to being a prosecutor to advocate for crime victims. We embody the interests of "the people," ensuring their voices are heard. She departed from the District Attorney's office during Pamela Price's tenure but returned when Ursula Jones resumed her role there. Our organization operates on a nonpartisan basis, focusing primarily on public safety as our agenda, and we see ourselves as public servants.

Dennis requested a vote for new members and reappointment of current board members for the Rotary Foundation. Lori Souza motioned and Jill Duerig 2nd. The club voted unanimously and the nominations were accepted.
