PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Dear Rotarians,

Wow what a busy and productive month it has been for us! I’m so proud of our membership for being engaged, excited, productive, and stepping up to the plate when needed.

It has been fun, while somewhat challenging, conducting our hybrid meetings. It’s great to have everyone participate. I sure like seeing our members in person and hope that as time goes on we will have more Rotarians joining us live.

We are welcoming a new member, Mark Hudson. We look forward to getting to know him and helping him feel excited to be a part of our group!

Thank you, Dick, for hosting a successful backyard social last month. We had lots of fun and definitely were able to get to know each other better! We have an Area 4 October social planned that will be a great way to have fun with our club and meet other local Rotarians.

Our first AREA 4 Rotary Day of Service with Kids Against Hunger was a smashing success! 135 Rotarians, Interactors and Guests of Rotarians participated and packed food for Kids Against Hunger. We packed over 37,000 food packages which will be distributed in Haiti and San Jose. Our Area 4 definitely ROCKS!

Coming up, we need All Hands on Deck for our CHILI COOK OFF FUNDRAISER on October 23rd! Sherri is doing an amazing job getting this event organized, and all of us need to step up to make this day a success. Sherri will update us at our meeting on Tuesday 10/5 and get commitments for $25 gift cards and help on the day of the event.

We have other great projects in the works:
  • Our Board approved a Service project for Goodness Village. We will build a Community Gathering Place with a dog park, benches, tables and umbrellas. Dave Goulart is in charge and moving this project forward. Be prepared to get a call to help put it all together! Frank and I visited Goodness Village last week and we were  super impressed with what they are doing. I am excited for our club to be a part of this special project and can’t wait until it comes to fruition.
  • Our Wheelchair Fundraiser is still going on. We have now raised over 15 Wheelchairs, we would love to hit 20. Please remember to let Leslie Lemieux know if you make a donation.
  • Sarah Palmer is working on the Fall Grants with her committee. Please think of any organization which would need support from us. You can sponsor them and email them an application.
  • Our Football Follies competition is in full swing thanks to Lori Souza and Bill Stevens. We have much fun hearing the standings each week and are excited to see how much money we raise with it. This money will go directly to our Turkey Drop in November, where needy families receive a Turkey and gift certificate, so they too can have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Our club is really living the Rotary theme of this year: Service Above Self.

Yours in Rotary,

Angelika
