Rotary Club of Livermore Valley ~ September 2022 Newsletter
President's Message
Dear Rotarians,
As “People of Action” it’s time for the club and the community to come together for our biggest fund-raising event of the year. The planning for the 2nd annual Chili Cook Off is underway and we are excited to beat our $16,000 fundraising achievement last year. Our members are working hard to ensure the October 1st Chili Cook Off is our best yet. We are looking forward to a day of sun, mild temperatures, fun, great food, drinks and music entertainment. Please help distribute the Chili Cook Off information to all your friends and family members.
Our club donates 100% of the profit from the Chili Cook Off to local charities, youth services and projects in the Livermore community. We care about the Livermore community and are proud of our efforts in making an impact every year. Please join our efforts.
Summer vacations are ending, and fall is quickly approaching. In September, we also commenced our fall Turkey giveaway fundraiser that allows us to provide groceries and a Turkey dinner at Thanksgiving to some of our underserved community members. We have set a goal of $5,000 and are on our way to meeting the goal.
“Imagine Rotary” is our international theme, and we imagine the Rotary Club of Livermore is going to make a larger impact improving the quality of life in the Livermore community. The club is also imagining club meetings that are fun with excellent speakers. This month we will be featuring the Measure P election information and visit from our two Mayoral candidates – John Marchand and Mony Nop. This is a great opportunity for new members to check us out.
Hope your September is filled with fun and great friendships.
Kevin

This meeting will take the place of the regular weekly meeting on September 6.
You're Invited!
AREA 4 ROTARY DAY OF SERVICE
Saturday,
September 17
1:30 - 3:00 PM
All Area 4 clubs are invited to join together to pack food for Ukrainians who need our help. We are also invited to socialize with our fellow Rotarians before and after our shift.
Only three of us were able to purchase tickets to the sold-out Crawdad Republic show, but we represented Rotary and had a great time. We scoped out a great spot for more club members to join on September 29th. So, plan ahead and purchase your tickets today so we can all gather together for a final summer hurrah!
The event benefits one of our community partners, the Pedrozzi Foundation. As part of our work with the Rotarian Foundation of Livermore, we support graduating seniors by funding the Bill Geyer Memorial Scholarship, administered through the Pedrozzi Foundation.
Hope to see everyone next month at Music in the Orchard on Thursday, September 29 as we enjoy the music of The Great Wide Open and imagine how much fun it would be to see Tom Petty in concert again.
at the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors Chambers in San Jose or via Zoom
The Environmental Sustainability Rotary Action Group (ESRAG) is sponsoring an informative day to learn more about clean energy solutions and climate crisis mitigation. Special guests include Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House, and Nuria Fernandez, US Department of Transportation.
