NOVEMBER STUDENT OF THE MONTH
We're catching up for last month :) Granada High School Principal Clark Conover introduced Hastin Chen. Hastin's parents Paul and Tylla joined us for the presentation of the award.
He's aspiring to attend a university to study Engineering and obtain his Masters degree within 5 years. With his academic track record, he is likely to succeed. Hastin has accomplished one of the most challenging AP schedules at Granada, with 10 AP courses completed with the highest test score of 5 for each. He earned a perfect for for the ACT (36) and an SAT score of 1570. Overall he is carrying a GPA of 4.63!
Hastin’s academic passions reach far beyond the classroom walls. A dedicated competitor in mathematics and computer science, he has consistently ranked in the top percentiles in competitions like the American Invitational Mathematics Exam (AIME) and ACSL All-Stars. His coding skills and problem-solving abilities are further demonstrated through his hackathon successes, where he and his team have developed innovative tech solutions, winning top prizes at events like Hyphen-Hacks and Los Altos Hacks. Projects like his yoga AI application, which personalizes workout plans using machine learning, and his ASL recognition model reflect his commitment to harnessing technology to tackle real-world issues.
Hastin is also honing his leadership skills by serving as president of the Granada Math Club and Captain of his Cross Country team.
Congratulations!!
Ed Schumann's Chalk Talk
Ed asked if anyone knew which record breaking accomplishment was seen during the 49r's versus Buffalo Bill's game on Sunday night? Josh Allen passed and scored and received a touchdown in the same play! Remarkable.
Remember that for a future Sports Trivia Quiz.
Ed also shared a 50 tickets on the 50 yard line JAX joke and you had to be there....

When we donate to The Rotary Foundation, we support Rotary's work in our country and around the world, helping to provide education; economic development; disease prevention; mother and child health; water, sanitation & hygiene; peace building; and environmental protection.
