Rotary Club of Livermore Valley ~ January 2022 Newsletter
PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Dear Rotarians,
The New year is upon us and with that we renew our hope, goals and dreams. My wish for you is that you will be able to CAUSE THE LIFE YOU WANT in all aspects of life - not just for you personally, but also for your family, your friends, business associates, neighborhood, local and international community.
The more we support each other to be successful, the more we can SERVE TO CHANGE LIVES.
I want to leave you with a thoughtful remark from the Dalai Lama. May it be of help to you.
When asked what surprised him most about humanity, the Dalai Lama answered: "Man sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money in order to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived."
Hopefully I will see you all at our first meeting in January - our Club Assembly.
Yours in Rotary,
Angelika
CLUB ASSEMBLY JANUARY 4
All members are encouraged to participate in our club assembly coming up the first Tuesday of January!
We will be discussing and voting on updates to our bylaws. Check your email from Angelika for the proposed revisions.
We will also be electing our next President Nominee who will serve as our 2023-2024 Club President! The Nominating Committee shared with the club in October that Kevin McCallum is our recommendation for President Nominee. At Tuesday's meeting, we will ask for any additional nominations from the floor and then all active members will be asked to vote.
CAPE HOLIDAY SUPPORT
Several members of our club joined with Livermore Club members representing the Rotarian Foundation of Livermore to deliver gifts and gift cards to CAPE Head Start Preschool to support over 100 children and their families during this holiday season.
Continuing our decade-plus tradition of helping local Veterans Hospital residents celebrate the holidays, we delivered turkey dinners to the veterans and staff this year.
