I recently started speed reading. So far, I can read "War and Peace" in ten seconds. It's only three words, but it's a start.

TODAY'S PROGRAM: Alameda County Assessor, Phong La
Born in Vietnam, Phong La came to the United States with his family as a refugee when he was two years old.
His family settled in Alameda County in 1980, where his parents worked their way from agricultural labor to owning successful small businesses.
He grew up in Union City, graduated from James Logan High School, earned a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Davis (2000), and received his Juris Doctor from the University of California's Hastings College of the Law (now UC Law San Francisco) in 2003.
