Our new member Jackie Mirisciotta gave us a great talk. She was born in Oakland and has 2 sons, 36 & 33. She and her significant other, Mark Jeffreys, have shared their life in Livermore over the past 10 years. She grew up in Castro Valley and graduated from Castro Valley High School. She attended the Academy of Art College in San Francisco for a short while, then went to work for Granny Goose Foods in Oakland and the Swiss Ski Chalet.
Jackie joined UPS as a part time counter clerk, and that turned into a 30-year career. During that time she worked at 4 different locations. She elected to retire in 2008, because with UPS when you reach 80 (years of service plus age) it's a good time to retire. Her last 12 years at UPS included HR and moved into management. That required her to work several weeks in a package car!
Jackie is a sports enthusiast. She studied tap & jazz dance. She loves to scuba dive, play tennis, and racquet ball, even ski racing. She has roller bladed in SF, Oakland and in her house during COVID. She continues to participate in river rafting, and hiking, Jackie loves to travel, and has scuba dived around the world. She has visited over 40 countries, Burning Man too.
Jackie contributed to community Service for UPS, including the Taylor Family Foundation, and the AIDs walk. In the past she has volunteered at the Cartoon Art Museum. She delivered food for Meals on Wheels for 10 years. She completed the Livermore Police Community Class and is now a LPD Volunteer.
Why Rotary? Bennie introduced her and she was impressed, and she wanted to be a part of a community that helps to change the world in a positive way. Jackie is " Blue Badge" bound.
FOUR-WAY TEST DISCUSSION
Beth led us through break out groups to further consider the importance and impact of the 4 Way Test.
